TRAINING OF CLUSTER COORDINATORS, HUB STAFF AND HUB BOARD MEMBERS THE USE OF ICT TO ACCESS AND SHARE INFORMATION

Heifer International Project Uganda in implementing a 5-year Program known as the East Africa Youth Inclusion Program (EAYIP). The program is in the 4th year of implementation aiming at empowering 15,000 youth to improve their livelihoods through creating employment opportunities for youth, business development and job creation along agriculture value chains. To fulfil this goal, the following strategic objectives and illustrative actions have been designed, integrated with gender and private sector engagement as cross-cutting themes.

Four strategic objectives:

(1) Equip youth with the necessary skills to establish businesses around the hub or seek employment in hub-related agribusinesses;

(2) Facilitate access to finance for young entrepreneurs to start or expand businesses.

(3) Enabling environment is enhanced to increase youth participation in agribusiness; and

(4) Hub model replicated in new value chains supporting young men and women.

It is against this background that Heifer is seeking for consultancy services from a reputable firm to conduct a basic training in Information Communication Technologies (ICT) for EAYIP Staff and 13 cooperatives/Hubs where EAYIP operates (Bugiri, Amuria, Ngora, Kiboga, Wakiso and Luwero).

The main objective of this activity is to equip both Hub staff and selected youth on the key basic knowledge of utilizing and leveraging on existing ICT solutions that are relevant to youth businesses and Hub business operations, to improve access to and information management.
