Introduction
This course is designed to generally prepare our students to plan, organize, direct, and control the functions and processes of a firm or organization. The course is intended to equip students with all the necessary skills needed in both private and public enterprises. The challenge in this country is we have managers in enterprises, but public managers are facing so many challenges in executing the objectives or goals of service delivery oriented institutions which are not profit motivated. Therefore the course includes many course units meant to impart skills of an all rounded professional. It also enlightens them on the reality facing us today so the learners endeavor to create self-employment rather than always wait to be employed.

Programme Rationale
The overall aim of the programme is to train and equip students with adequate knowledge skills and attitudes that will enable them to face challenges in both private and public sector.
Course Objectives
- To acquire technical and competencies required in an undertaking or managing business as specialised area, eg Finance, accounting and auditing skills
- To acquire skills as business managers have to deal with other people either as employees, suppliers or customers
- To enable students to start and run their own enterprises.
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the programme, the students should be able to;-
- Provide technical and Managerial skills in managing businesses
- Create and sustain their businesses
Demonstrate ethical and good governance in business.
Career Prospects
As already noted our graduates are broad, well-grounded and an all rounded professionals able to fit anywhere. For example, an arts administrator manages activities and services which support the arts sector, involving projects and initiatives provided by theatres, galleries and museums; arts festivals and centres; dance companies; community and disability arts organisations; central, local and regional authorities etc; civil service administrator; community worker; company secretary; diplomatic service operational officer; education administrator; facilities manager; health service manager; intelligence officer; local government officer; personal assistant; sports administrator etc.
Programme duration.
The diploma programme shall cover a minimum of   two (2) years of four semesters and not exceeding a maximum of four (4) years.
Admission into the first year will be through any of the four avenues mentioned below:
- Direct entry
- Certificate holders scheme
- Professional qualifications
- Entrance admission examination
For admission to any diploma course under
- Direct Entry Scheme, a candidate must have:
- Obtained at least one (1) advanced level principal pass and two (2) subsidiary passes obtained at the same sitting of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (U.A.C.E) examinations. Or Qualification equivalent to UACE.
- Sat the UCE examination (equivalent) and obtained at least 5 passes.
- Certificate Holder’s Scheme, a candidate must hold:
- A Uganda Certificate of Education (U.C.E) and a certificate in business Management or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- A certificate in business management, or a certificate in any field of study obtained from a recognized institution.
- Professional Qualifications.
- The applicant should have passed at least stage/level two (2), of the professional qualifications from a recognized institution or its equivalent, provided this is passing by examination and recognized in Uganda by the National Council of Higher Education.
